Lone Wolves Of The UK Underground
Midlands Metal One Man Bands is a facebook group set up by our very own master of ceremonies, Demonic Bishop, to unite the fringes of the English solo project/extreme metal movement in our area, and to bring together bands, fans, information and community into one localised place.
Due to the esoteric, obscure, complex and underground nature of this style of music – Infernal Symphony’s included – it can be difficult to figure out what’s out there if you’re just starting to explore what the underground has to offer, or to find related bands if you’re a little bit more acquainted to it.
When you talk about one man bands and solo projects specifically, that problem becomes magnified tenfold!
And so, this group caters to any and all who are interested in the music of bands such as Infernal Symphony, Foul Body Autopsy, Dark Doom and more one man bands from the Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicester and Staffordshire areas of England specifically, but less generally black metal and one man bands of all forms in all locations across the world, as well as aspiring bedroom black metallers, local show promoters, album artists, photographers and even simple fans of one man bands themselves!
The community is small, yet friendly, and we urge you to check it out to immerse yourself in the sub-subculture of Infernal Symphonys creator and you never know, maybe you’ll discover even more incredible music!!
Something that specifically sparked the creation of the group was an explosion of sorts in both the volume and the quality of new solo projects being formed – with Death Divine, Dark Doom, Abduction and ourselves releasing their debut material alone in 2017 – and so the time is ripe for new members to march forth and stake their claim for validation on the groups’ list of bands essential to the scene and for the group to be more firmly rooted so this collection of great artists can get the respect and recognition they deserve.

” With the MMOMB thing, it was a problem I had a feeling I could solve, I mean, even despite knowing a number of musicians and promoters in the Midlands music scene, simply because alot of bands of our caliber simply do not have the exposure or ability to spread the word unless you can attend every single show that goes on, you inevitably miss out on bands and talent, which is a true shame because there’s some really good shit, innovators out there, if you know where to look, and they were so hidden in plain sight that I was one of them and it even took me a while to realise it.
Until starting Infernal Symphony I was completely oblivious to the amount of talent these determined individuals had and they were right under my nose! Literally living hours, if not minutes, away from me.
So, being part of an emerging extreme metal one man band myself, I wanted to give them a platform to be seen, and for self-promotion, but also a place to foster connections to like minded artists, to network, and to learn and feed off one another like other more famous scenes over the years.
A big part of it is also to discuss the facets of this little intimate but passionate community, as well as converse over larger solo projects and common bands from all over the world that influence us too.”
The sheer volume of incredible artists that tread the difficult path of crafting their sound and micromanaging their musical ventures all by themselves, all concentrated in such a small area too, convinced me there was an emerging scene developing here and therefore I should be the one to not only be a part of it, but to also cultivate it as well.
